High Performance Equine is a full service equine ambulatory veterinary practice specializing in sports medicine, lameness and sales work. The practice also provides general healthcare, medicine, reproduction and foal care. Our goal is to provide our clients with the highest level of care and attention.
Dr. Jared High, AAEP, AVMA, FAEP
Dr. High graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. After graduation he joined Ocala Equine Hospital to complete an internship and has continued on as an associate for 12 years. Dr. High opened his own practice, High Performance Equine, in 2024. His interests include training and racehorse medicine, lameness, reproduction and neonatal medicine.
Outside of work Jared enjoys spending time with his family and going to Gator games.

Advance Imaging
We utilize advanced diagnostic imaging techniques such as digital radiology and ultrasound to diagnose and evaluate injuries or conditions in horses. We work closely with a radiologist team for referral for diagnostic imaging such as MRI and CT.
Sports Medicine
Focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of sports-related injuries in horses, including lameness evaluations, joint injections, and rehabilitation programs.
Regenerative Medicine & Advanced Therapeutics
Employing cutting-edge techniques like stem cell therapy and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy to promote tissue healing and enhance the horse's recovery.
Thoroughbred Sales
Including pre-purchase examinations, radiographic evaluations, endoscopic exams, and overall health assessments to support informed purchasing decisions.
Pre-Purchase Exams
Services conducted prior to purchasing a horse, consisting of comprehensive physical examinations, lameness evaluations, radiographic imaging, and other diagnostic assessments to assess the horse's health and soundness.
Field Surgery
Involve surgical procedures performed in field settings, outside of a traditional hospital or clinic, often for emergency cases or situations where transportation to a hospital is not feasible.
Preventative Medicine
Focused on promoting the health and well-being of horses through vaccinations, deworming protocols, nutritional guidance, and overall disease prevention strategies.
Reproduction
Managing and optimizing the breeding process in horses, including artificial insemination, embryo transfer, reproductive evaluations, hormonal management, and fertility treatments to maximize successful pregnancies and healthy offspring.
Emergency
Provided on an urgent basis to address critical and life-threatening conditions in horses, ranging from colic to fractures and immediate medical interventions to stabilize the horse's condition.
